He hates school and we have difficulty getting him there. On some days he refuses to go. He seems so clever and loves learning about his specific interests but doesn’t engage in the learning at school. He is very comfortable at home though we see challenging behaviour and meltdowns each afternoon after school. We want to understand his learning profile better, particularly so that we can help him engage in the learning process and feel more settled at school. Our daughter has always been a bit anxious. She had early difficulties separating from mum and now is perfectionistic and very hard on herself. She is in Year 11 and gets very nervous about assignments and exams at school. If she doesn’t get full marks, she is very disappointed in herself. She had a panic attack during her last exam. What can we do to help her? Is she eligible for adjustments in class and for her assessments (such as being able to take breaks and more time when needed)?
