Assessment

REACH Neuropsychology offers neuropsychological assessment services for young people aged 6 to 25.

Neuropsychological (or Neurodevelopmental) assessment provides a comprehensive picture of a young person’s functioning, including their strengths and difficulties in areas such as cognition, learning, behaviour, emotions and socialisation. It is a diagnostic process, informing strategies to assist the young person in reaching their potential and goals.

The Assessment Process involves comprehensive information gathering through interview and form completion. A range of individually selected neuropsychological, standardised assessment tools are also administered to the young person. All information gathered is then collated and interpreted for feedback to the young person, family and other providers such as school. A comprehensive report with recommendations is also provided.

Domains evaluated in the assessment process may include:

  • Cognitive / intellectual skills
  • Memory and learning
  • Academic achievement
  • Attention and executive functioning
  • Adaptive functioning
  • Behaviour
  • Socialisation
  • Emotional well-being

On commencing a new assessment, there will be opportunity to discuss your concerns, which will guide planning an assessment designed to help answer your questions and achieve your goals.
